When you’re on the field, you need to know what to do if the ball comes your way. DICK’S Sporting Goods Tech Rep Josh Muecke has a few basic fielding tips for baseball players of all skill levels.
In the field, players should be ready to react at a moment’s notice. Your knees should be bent and you should be positioned on the balls of your feet, ready to move. When the ball is hit, stay low and follow the ball as it lands in your glove.
“Attack the ball—don’t let the ball come to you,” Muecke says. After you grasp the ball, make a strong, accurate through to your base.
