Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, it’s been engrained that you practice your forehands, backhands and even your serves every time you hit the court. But have you practiced your ball toss? This is one of the most important parts of a serve, but most players don’t learn to polish this step.
Follow these steps to maintain the consistency that could lead to a better toss, and therefore, a better serve.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
First, put your front foot up to the base line as if you were going to serve. Next, reach your tossing hand directly above your foot about waist-high. You’ll then lift the ball straight up and release! It’s important to let go without flicking the ball or accidentally giving the ball any spin while it’s in the air.
Practicing this each time you step on the court could be the key to getting the serve you’ve been looking for. Check out even more tips on how to serve here.
