Soccer Drills: 1 v 1 Ball Possession

This advanced 1 v 1 soccer drill promotes strong ball control and improves offensive and defensive skills.

For this soccer drill, you’re going to need seven soccer balls and six cones or disks.

Using a 20-yard square on the field, balance three soccer balls on top of three cones on each side of the square. The coach sends out the remaining ball and the players race for it.

Each player is responsible for defending the three balls on their side while they compete for possession and control to shoot at their opponent’s cones. Anytime possession and control changes players are forced to alter their approach from offense to defense and vice versa.
